Sound therapy is a technique which uses music, sounds, tones, vibration, and breath to create a grounding, meditative space in order to promote healing. Therapy may include, but is not limited to, the use of Crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, acutonic tuning forks, rattles, and drums.
The therapeutic use of sound and music reduces anxiety and emotional stress, lowers blood pressure and heart rate, and promotes healing. This therapy is based on the theory that all of life vibrates, including people's bodies. Reception to a variety of sound frequencies causes changes in basic cell structure; sound waves can have a strong positive or negative effect on the body, mind, and spirit; based on the understanding that all energy possesses a vibration frequency and that some of those vibrations have healing.
